EMBROIDERY. Worked in silk with hand painted background in imitation of marbled paper. Approx 16.8 cm x 20 cm in the frame. Probably continental, French? We think dating from c18th, and depicting a woman, although above the head there is a halo-like shape, which might have significance. Perhaps depicting Christ, although if female, Mary mother of Christ might fit a French and Catholic provenance.
