[HOLLAR, Wenceslaus] Portraits of Celebrated Courtezans from the Original Copper Plates Engraved by W.Hollar in the Reign of Charles the Second. Quarter blue Morocco over blue cloth boards, approx 27 cm x 17 cm. some scuffing and wear, foxing to first and last few leaves and some of the ten plates which are printed on heavy paper stock, but largely confined to the edges. The images are approx 10cm x 6 cm, the pate marks clearly visible. Each plate has the name of the sitter and her price engraved on the right or top right hand corner. No other text. This collection a later reprint of the originals . [ Richard Pennington in “ A Descriptive Catalogue of the Etched Work of Wenceslaus Hollar” places this collection as early C19th] A charming collection of plates, which would frame well.
